My Focus

Legislative Equality For All

All laws should be free of bias, whether it's based on race, gender, ability, economic status, or other characteristics.

Quality Affordable Health Care

Health care should be affordable, accessible, and people should be able to get quality health care regardless of their economic circumstances.

Quality Education

My focus is to work to help Iowa regain its #1 status in the nation with respect to the quality of its public education, including early childhood education, establishment of a core curriculum, and good pay for Iowa's teachers.

Increasing and Expanding Small Businesses

Small businesses are the backbone of economic development. I've worked to enhance and expand Iowa's Targeted Small Business program.

Environment Protection

Iowans are traditionally environmentally conscious. I supported a constitutional amendment to create a fund which will be constitutionally protected.

Consumer Protection

I worked to create an Insurance Consumer Advocate and otherwise see that Iowans will get effective help with their insurance problems in a state that's long been noted for its insurance industry.

Protecting Our Children

I've worked to be see that Iowa's children will be tested for lead paint exposure when they enter schools to alleviate this significant public health problem.
